Gordon Dixon Obituary

Gordon Lorne Dixon

November 6, 1945 – February 1, 2026

On February 1, 2026, Gordon Lorne Dixon of Benito passed away at the Swan Valley Health Centre at the age of 80.

Gordon is survived by his loving wife Linda (Babiuk), his children and grandchildren; Alan (Sherylene) of White City, their children Dallas (Nikki) and Tyler (Chisato); Clinton (Trista) of Edmonton, their children Danica, Brooklyn, and Jordyn; Amber McBryan (Ron) of Nanaimo and Karen’s daughter Madison of Brandon, also his sister Edna and brother Albert.

Gordon was predeceased by his parents Perceville and Florence, in laws William and Stella, sisters Jean, Doris and Gladys, brother John and daughter Karen.

Gordon enjoyed working with heavy equipment. He drove Euclid at Merritt Mine, Semi-Truck on the Princeton Highway, and helped build roads and breakwater at Campbell River.

Gordon came back to Swan River where he met Linda (Babiuk). They were married July 12, 1969.

He then drove cement truck for Minish Construction, worked on the Hydro Dam at Gillam, and was a lease operator for Swan River the Pas Transfer.

Over the years every summer weekend was spent boating, fishing and camping at all the surrounding lakes. There were also many holidays and trips to Vancouver Island.

Gordon was a kind, devoted husband and father who always told his family how much he loved them. He spent many hours driving his children to hockey, baseball games, swimming, piano lessons and other activities in between. He believed these activities made good children and he was right. He enjoyed every minute of it, even the meals he had to make.

Gordon was a good man who could fix anything and lived a good life. We are grateful for him and will miss him. Your thoughts and prayers are deeply appreciated at this time.

Thank you to the emergency services team and the hospital staff for your care.
