On Wednesday April 24, 2024, Olga Honoway passed away at the Benito Personal Care Home at the age of 98 years.

Olga was born at home in the Donwell District in Saskatchewan on September 25, 1925, to Mike and Lillian Genoway (nee Derkatch). She attended Mazeppa School in Saskatchewan. She moved with her parents to Bowsman, Manitoba in 1940. She attended Hall School. After she completed her education, she worked in a store and in a service station. On July 20, 1944, Olga married John Honoway, son of Emil and Ann (Tratch) Honoway.

In 1945 they moved to a farm near Mikado Saskatchewan. In March 1946 her son Clarence was born in Canora, Saskatchewan. In 1946 they bought land near Bowsman, sold it and in 1949 bought land northeast of Swan River, where they raised cattle and farmed the land. They lived there for over 50 years. In 1950 her daughter Sharon was born in Swan River.

When John was working, Olga would do the field work and everything else that needed to be done. She also drove a school bus for many years.

Olga and John sold the farm in 2004 and moved to Swan River. John passed away in 2012. Olga then lived with her daughter Sharon in Calgary, Alberta for a few years. She moved back to Swan River and later to Benito.

Olga would always plant a large garden every year, and a beautiful flower garden. She yearly raised chickens, turkeys, and ducks. She loved to crochet and knit.  She crocheted many afghans for family and friends. She enjoyed playing cards, watching hockey, baseball and The Price is Right.
